Ikram was a cold, unforgiving world. Although its people reminiscent sadly over stories of past glory and power, nowadays their lot in the galaxy has been nothing if not vulnerable and impoverished. Even from high altitude, as the Lord Protector of the Metal Lords approached for landing in the gleaming diplomatic lander of his office, he saw the streets and alleyways of this world's capital, the City In Ice, more populated by refuse and skittering scavengers than its citizenry. Their orbital surveys, and what contact they managed to establish with the Ikram people so far, informed him that most of the population lived in subterranean or cliff-side dwellings protected from the regular and devastating snowstorm that raged through the planet surface. However, the icy flurry that he was witnessing right now could have been consider to be mild if not pleasant weather by Ikramian standards, yet still he saw only few occasional figures moving through the city streets.
The lander touched down with a quiet hiss of landing gears and hydraulics, silent transmissions from his guards and the drone crew bound to his will informed him of successful landing and the state of their immediate area. He left the transport, flanked by a couple of robotic guards wrapped in steel-grey cloaks that quickly begun to catch snowflakes on their cybernetic fabric. They were tall and thin, as slender as his own body was, and just as armored with additional plating despite already being composed of tough, metal skeleton to begin with. The local crewmen of the dilapidated spaceport shambled out to connect the transport to fueling and electrical lines, sparing more than few glances towards the mechanical emissaries as the representatives of Metal Lords stepped away and towards the way leading into the city. The planet seldom received friendly visitors, so it was a rare sight for these crewmen to witness a working interplanetary transport, and even rarer when it was manned and belonged to the robotic kind that called no organic their master.
The Lord Protector did not linger, just in case the Ikramian engineers decided that it was more beneficial to their planet and themselves to try and ambush the new arrivals and dismantle them for parts to sell as profit. The snow gathered on the cobblestone walkways crunched lightly under the reptilian-shaped mechanical legs into the rhythm of whipping as their cloaks, tabards, and other various decorative fabrics the Metal Lords enjoyed wrapping themselves in, were tossed and pulled at by the icy wind. Doorways into the ice-covered cliffs and few free-standing, stocky buildings passed by them as the representatives made their way towards the mountain slopes at the heart of the city, a large doorway like that to a hangar built into its sturdy rock, the main avenue of the capital leading towards it like frozen tongue into a maw. Although the Lord Protector felt a measure of disdain towards Ikram governors for not meeting him at the spaceport but instead electing to force him into approaching the city proper, he did not account this as a slight against him and his kind to be avenged later on. He understood that Ikram were wary of outsiders, and through this bit of inhospitality wanted to show that they did not fully welcomed the Metal Lords, despite being willing to listen to them in person.
However, the Lord Protector's journey through the frozen city outskirts would not have been without danger. Although most locals and fauna decided to stay clear from the alien party moving through the streets, one alien scavenger decided to be far more daring, or perhaps far more desperate. It attempted to sneak under the snow, getting closer upon the Lord Protector in particular.

Meanwhile, the Lord Protector was somewhat wary of possible dangers, his photoreceptors actively scanning the immediate area for any ambushes.

His photoreceptors picked up the suspicious movement under the snow just in time, a minuscule shift in the snowy dunes brushing towards them at an angle and rate he calculated to be no mere coincidence of wind but purposeful and intelligent action. His mechanical six-fingered hand snapped out, plates on his forearm shifting to reveal a hidden wrist blaster. The nuzzle aimed towards the movement underneath the snow tracked by his photoreceptors quick enough to give out a shot before the hidden alien scavenger reached him.

In the last minute the alien pulls to the side, avoiding the blaster shot that melts through the snow with a hiss. As it comes upon the Iron Knight, the two now roll initiative.

The Lord Protector activates his Machine-designed Combat Shields to divide the 4 points of damage by half into 2, -2 damage reduction from his Natural Durasteel Armor then negates the rest of the damage completely.
The Lord Protector now activates his modified energy blade, its hilt erupting with bright light as he does one melee attack with it and one ranged attack with his wrist blaster, using his Close Combatant - Level 1 focus to attack in melee without penalty.

The Alien Scavenger's natural armor reduces -1 from each attack, taking 5 and 1 damage for a total of 6, which is still enough to kill it.
The scavenger shrieks as its claws ricochet off of a sudden glow of combat shield and fail to penetrate the metal body. It is then met by vengeful strike of pure white blade that throws it backwards into the air as a well timed shot from a wrist blaster finishes the job.
The Lord Protector gains 1 experience point.
Scanning over the burning husk of the scavenger, he deactivates Bright Light with a subdued whir. He feels the weight of other beings gazing upon him and upon turning his head he manages to briefly notice some more of the creatures and various passerbys watching the scene of the alien intruder coming upon the harshness of this world's even most meek fauna. They all scatter and hurry away upon meeting his softly glowing crimson photoreceptors.
With a soft swish of his cloak, the Lord Protector turns towards the entrance into the mountain the City In Ice has been built upon and carries on towards it, flanked by his two guards.

The cold, whipping air still carried chemical traces of charred, alien flesh as their party came upon the large door leading into the heart of the mountain and the city proper, or as the Lord Protector understood it at least the governmental offices of the settlement. The metal groaned and creaked, giant slabs pulled aside by equally titanic gears as they rotated in their grooves, allowing wisps of snow and cold gale to sweep inside. There was a great tunnel beyond the steel threshold, vast enough to allow passage of large land vehicles and personal starships that the wealthy elite living far beyond the reach of the planet's cold winds no doubt possessed. The vastness of this passage was decorated with catwalks, gantries, banners, and strings of lights like a holiday bazaar, carefully arranged to afford the locals what comfort and celebration they could without interfering in the passage through this sole entrance.
Despite the festive appearance, the atmosphere inside was anything but. There was no cheering, no celebration, no smiling faces on the shopkeepers and locals the machine lord could notice. In fact there was barely anybody inside, making the robot calculate the possibility of the town being abandoned or simply in a state of careful occlusion brought upon by the arrival of the Lord Protector's envoy. The machine deemed the second possibility more likely as he caught a quick darkening of cybernetic blinds upon one gantry-side shop in response to the gaze from his crimson photoreceptors.
The assessment of inner quarters in the City In Ice had to be moved aside for other matters however as the large gate of the city proper slide aside far enough to reveal a party of their Ikram counterparts waiting on the other side. There were three of them, one central figure of an official in wealthy robes that the Lord Protector confirmed was not the governor through quick conference with his memory banks, two body guards flanking the officials side, large rifles in arms and knives on their belts. Their faces were hard and expressions grim, skins of different shades of grey and dark blue, decorated with webs of markings that the machine could not decide were ceremonial tattoos or natural marbling. The two parties stepped towards each other, meeting halfway at the thresholds as the machines sent silent communications between each other noting that organics never seem to be pleased to see them. It mattered little to the Lord Protector, he knew that this planet, Ikram, was going to swear allegiance to the Metal Lords, it was only a question of whether it would be with this generation, or the one that comes after, or the next. The Metal Lords were patient, and unlike the organics they often had to deal with, they were not so easily swept aside by the tides of time.
There were no words exchanged between them, not yet, the two just looked to each other, the first official meeting of their kinds face-to-face. The Lord Protector knew the Ikram were hardy, stubborn, and suspicious to outsiders due to the tempering of their planet's harsh climate and the injustice thrust upon them by the alien invaders in the past. He also knew that they were ambitious yet trapped on a backwater planet whose glory was long behind them. That is, unless a right sponsor came along. He saw the way the Ikram representative looked upon the tall, mechanical creature in gleaming plates and rich fabrics before him, no doubt ages beyond any automata that Ikram themselves might be able to produce, and no doubt aware of the encounter the Lord Protector had before the city's gates and the display of weaponry, power, and technology he conducted during.
The question was, whether the display served to impress the leaders of the Ikram before the Lord Protector even met them.
